A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too loose or tight and then miss the ball, making poor contact or letting their racket slide when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
The other thing you need to remember is that your forehand swing should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow-through. This is known as a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low angle will have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you need to master. The left arm of newbies is often carried over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club in a neutral grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.
Open stance forehand tennis players are more likely to have issues with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. A great solution to this problem is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to hold the racket with a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, your knees bent and your elbows locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket above their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will help prevent either the over-the-head swing or the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
