The grip is the most critical element of a successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too loose or tight and then miss the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. When you reach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is called a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc would start out with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you need to master. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique known as the bank shot, your forehand’s swing path will naturally turn toward the top as you get closer to the ball.

Another crucial aspect of the proper grip is the angle of your stance. Most tennis players are right-handed and carry their right arm across their bodies. The left arm of beginners is often slung across their body. Most coaches recommend that you hold the club in a neutral grip or similar to a baseball position. A neutral grip can stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. A great way to solve this issue is to hold the racket using an even grip. Closed grips are the best choice for tennis players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket in front of your skull, keeping your knees bent, and your elbows locked.

Tennis players that have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their heads and over their shoulder. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will prevent the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, ensure you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
