They are classified based on their ability to hit the ball farther than a forehand or backhand. Most times, tennis players struggle when they hit forehands due to the fact that they aren’t aware of how to engage the proper muscles for their forehands or in what order to hit strong forehands. Tennis players also struggle with their backhands because of lack of knowledge on how to properly position themselves to hit a solid backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the game and must be addressed.
A successful tennis swing depends on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and end up missing the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best opportunity to strike the ball correctly every time.
The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body as you reach the top of your follow through. This is called a high arc or cut shot. A hook with a low angle will have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors will influence the kind of shots you need to master. If you are working on the bank shot technique the forehand swing course will naturally curve towards the top as it gets closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball whenever you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders remain in constant contact with the ball which allows your arms to move freely. When you approach the ball, ensure that your arm is directed from your side and not to your backside. Rotating your arm on your side actually weakens your ability to generate power and create a great backswing. In order to get your arm to rotate correctly, you must hold a firm grip on the club. A weak grip can be extremely dangerous as it can cause you to lose the ball or could cause you to extend your arm. This can result in injury.
The angle of your stance is also an important aspect to ensure a good grip. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and have their right hand spread across their body. For beginners the left arm is usually carried over their body. The majority of coaches advise holding the club with a neutral grip, or in a similar way to a baseball position. Holding the club in a neutral posture will ensure that you don’t have a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Tennis players that have an open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. If a player has an open-stance forehand, they are more likely to turn their wrists and not have a good grip. A great solution to this problem is to hold the racket with an even grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. This can be accomplished by placing the racket on your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a dominant hand should move the racket over their heads and then over their shoulder. If you’re a left handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the swing that is over the head or the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. When you swing keep your wrists straight and down your hips so that you don’t allow either side of your body any room to swing.
