Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will provide you with the best chance to hit the ball accurately every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. When you reach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should curve towards your top. Holding the club in a neutral position will ensure that you don’t have a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Tennis players that have an open stance forehand are more likely to have issues with their forearms. If players have an open-stance forehand, they tend to twist their wrists and not have a proper grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand should attempt to have a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket in front of your skull, your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should hold the racket above their head and over their shoulders. The racket should point towards your crotch in case you are an right-handed player, and it should face your waist if you’re left handed. This will prevent the over-the-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from happening. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t give any part of your body too much room.
