The grip is the most critical aspect of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket too tightly or too loosely and end up hitting the ball too far, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off when they swing at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best opportunity to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. This is known as a cut shot or high arc. A low arc or hook will begin with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots that you must be learning. A neutral grip will stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.

Forehand tennis players who have an open stance are more likely to have issues with their forearms. If a player has an open stance forehand they tend to twist their wrists, and they do not have a proper grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in an upright grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand should attempt to hold the racket with a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket behind your skull, keeping your knees bent and your elbows locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket over their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should be facing towards your waist. This will prevent the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from happening. When you swing, keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips so that you don’t give either side of your body a chance to swing.
