Tennis is among the most popular sports played in the world. Anyone can play tennis, from beginners to pros. Tennis players can be classified into two broad categories based on their skill to hit the ball further and higher than a forehand or a backhand. Tennis players typically struggle to hit forehands due inexperience with how to properly engage their muscles in to do to hit forehands that are strong. Also, tennis players struggle with backhands due to the fact that they aren’t aware about how to properly position themselves for a great backhand down the court. Therefore, these two important aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who want to excel at the game.

A successful tennis swing is contingent on the grip you use. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket to tightly or loosely, and end up either not hitting the ball, making improper contact, or having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to be aware of is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow through. This is called cut or high arc shot. A low arc or hook will begin with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots you need to master. For instance, if you are practicing a technique referred to as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally shift towards the top as you move closer to the ball.

Keep your shoulders in line with the ball when you swing. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball as your arms swing freely. Remember that your shoulders must not be removed from the socket or tennis racquet during your swing. If this happens, it could be extremely difficult to capture the ball.

When you approach the ball, ensure that your arm is pointed from your side and not to your backside. Rotating your arms to your side can actually decrease your power and ability to generate power. To get your arm to rotate correctly, you must hold a firm grip on the club. A weak grip could be dangerous since it can cause you lose the ball or could cause you to overextend your arm. This could lead to injuries.

The angle of your stance is an important factor in ensuring an effective grip. Most tennis beginners are right-handed and carry their right arm across their bodies. For those who are just beginning, their left arm is usually slung across their body. Most coaches recommend holding the club with a neutral grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball grip. By holding the club in a neutral position will help prevent you from having a non-dominant arm when you swing.

Tennis players with open stance forehands tend to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehands should try to use a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, with your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should hold the racket in front of their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will prevent the over the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t allow any side of your body too much room.
