Tennis players can be classified into two broad categories based on their ability to hit the ball more and higher than a forehand or a backhand. Most often, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they do not know how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands or in the right order to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due lack of knowledge on how to position themselves in order to hit a solid backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the sport and must be addressed.

The grip is the most important aspect of the successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too loose or tight and then miss the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. Holding the racket the right way will provide you with the best chance to hit the ball accurately every time.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. This is known as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low angle will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the type of shots you should be practicing. If you are working on the bank shot technique the forehand swing course will naturally curve towards the top as it gets closer to the ball.

Keep your shoulders in line with the ball whenever you swing. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball while your arms move freely. When you swing, your shoulders must not be able to leave the racquet’s socket. It can make it very difficult to take the ball back if this occurs.

When you get close to the ball, make sure to rotate your arm from your side, not your backside. By putting your arm on your side actually weakens your ability to generate energy and produce a strong backswing. You need a solid grip to control the rotation of your arm. A weak grip can result in injury. It can cause you not to hit the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This can result in injuries.

Another crucial aspect of the proper grip is the angle of your stance. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and have their right hand draped across their body. For those who are just beginning their left arm is usually slung over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club in an open grip or like a baseball position. A neutral grip will prevent you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.

Tennis players with open stance forehand tend to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand they tend to twist their wrists, and they do not have a proper grip. This issue can be fixed by holding the racket with neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehands should try to hold the racket with a closed grip. This can be done by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players with a dominant hand should move the racket over their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will prevent the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, make sure you don’t give any side of your body too much room.
