They can be classified according to their ability to hit the ball further than a forehand or backhand. Most often, tennis players have difficulty when they hit forehands due to the fact that they aren’t aware of how to engage the correct muscles for their forehands, and in the right order to hit powerful forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with their backhands as they don’t know enough about the proper way to set themselves up to hit a nice backhand down the court. A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket too tight or loosely and then miss the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you approach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should curve towards your top. This is called cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low angle will have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors will influence the type of shots you should be learning. For instance, if you are practicing a technique known as the bank shot your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

The left arm of beginners is often carried over their body. Most coaches suggest holding the club with a neutral grip or in a similar way to a baseball posture. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehand tend to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand, they tend to over-turn their wrists and not have a good grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to have a closed grip. This can be accomplished by placing the racket over your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket over their heads and over their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if you are an right-handed player, and it should face your waist if you are left-handed. This will stop the head-over-head swing or the under-shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, make sure you don’t allow any side of your body too much room.
