By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best opportunity to strike the ball correctly every time.
The other thing you need to be aware of is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body as you reach the top of your follow through. This is referred to as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc starts with the more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the type of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball when you swing. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball even as your arms swing freely. Remember that your shoulders should never be removed from the socket or racquet while you are swinging. If this happens, it could be extremely difficult to take the ball back.
When you are approaching the ball, ensure that your arm is pointed towards your side, and not your backside. Rotating your arms towards your side can decrease your power and ability generate power. To allow your arm to rotate correctly, you must have a strong grip on the club. A weak grip can result in injury. It could cause you to miss the ball or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injury.
The angle of your stance is an important factor in ensuring an effective grip. Most tennis players are right handed and have their right arm slung across their bodies. For those who are just beginning the left arm is usually carried across their body. Most coaches suggest using an even grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball grip. By holding the club in a neutral position can ensure that you don’t have a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Tennis players with open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand they are more likely to turn their wrists and not have a proper grip. A great way to solve this issue is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. This can be accomplished by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant handed should swing the racket above their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a left handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will help prevent either the swing that is over the head or the under-shoulder swing from occurring. When you swing, keep your wrists straight and down your hips so that you do not give either side of your body any space to swing.
