Most times, tennis players struggle with their forehands as they aren’t aware of how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands or in which order to hit powerful forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with their backhands as they do not know enough about the proper way to position themselves to hit a great backhand down the court. This is why these two essential aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who wish to be a pro at the sport.
The grip is the most critical aspect of a successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too tightly or too loosely, and end up either missing the ball, making improper contact, or having the racket fall off while they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will provide you with the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing should start out straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow-through. This is referred to as cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low angle will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the kind of shots you must be learning. For instance, if you are practicing a technique known as the bank shot, your forehand’s swing path will naturally turn toward the top as you get closer to the ball.
Be sure to keep your shoulders aligned with the ball. This helps to keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball while your arms are free to move. When you approach the ball, ensure that your arm is pointed from your side , not to your backside. Rotating your arm to the side will weaken the ability of your arm to generate power and produce a strong backswing. To get your arm to rotate properly you need to be able to grip the club. A weak grip can cause injury. It could cause you to lose the ball or cause you overextend your arms. This could lead to injury.
Another key factor in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and wear their right hand slung across the body. For those who are just beginning the left arm is typically carried over their body. Most coaches recommend that you hold the club in a neutral grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip can stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand they tend to over-turn their wrists, and they do not have a good grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. This can be accomplished by placing the racket on your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket above their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight while you swing. Also, make sure you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
