Tennis players can be divided into two broad categories based on their to hit the ball farther and higher than a forehand or a backhand. Most often, tennis players struggle with their forehands as they aren’t aware of how to engage the proper muscles for their forehands, and in which order to hit powerful forehands. In the same way, tennis players struggle with their backhands as they aren’t aware about the proper way to position themselves to hit a great backhand down the court. So, these two crucial areas of the game need to be addressed by those who wish to excel at the sport.

A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. The other thing you need to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should start out straight and then curve towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. A great solution to this problem is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Closed grips are ideal for tennis players with an open forehand. This can be achieved by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players with a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulder. If you’re a right-handed player, the racket should face your crotch.
