Tennis is a hugely popular sport. It is a sport everyone can play, from beginners to professional. There are two main types of tennis players. They are classified based on their ability to hit the ball more than a backhand or forehand. Most often, tennis players have difficulty when they hit forehands due to the fact that they don’t know how to engage the proper muscles for their forehands, and in the right order to hit powerful forehands. Likewise, tennis players also struggle with backhands because they do not know enough about how to position themselves to hit a great backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the game and must be addressed.
A successful tennis swing is contingent on the grip you use. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket too tight or loosely and end up missing the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the correct position.
The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should start out straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow through. This is known as cut shots or high arc. A hook with a low angle will have an natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots you need to master. For instance, if you are practicing a technique referred to as the bank shot, your forehand’s swing path will naturally move towards the top as you move closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are in constant contact with the ball, allowing your arms to move freely. Remember that your shoulders must not move away from the socket or the racquet while you are swinging. If this happens, it could be very difficult to take the ball back.
When you are approaching the ball, make sure that your arm is pointing from your side and not to your backside. Rotating your arm on your side actually weakens your ability to generate energy and create a great backswing. You need a solid grip to control your arm’s rotation. Having a weak grip can be extremely dangerous as it could cause you to be unable to catch the ball, or it could cause you to extend your arm. This could result in injury.
Another important aspect in the proper grip is the angle you stand at. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and carry their right arm across their body. The left arm of newbies is often slung across their body. Most coaches suggest using a neutral grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball grip. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Forehand tennis players with open stances are more likely to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket with an even grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket in front of your skull, with your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket above their head and then over their shoulder. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will help prevent either the head-over-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from happening. When you swing keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips to ensure that you don’t give either side of your body a chance to swing.
