The grip is the most critical aspect of an effective tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. When you reach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should be curved towards your top. This is referred to as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc would have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors can affect the kind of shots you must be learning.
