Tennis players can be divided into two broad categories based on their ability level to hit the ball farther and higher than a backhand or forehand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they do not know how to properly engage the proper muscles for their forehands or in which order to hit powerful forehands. Likewise, tennis players also struggle with their backhands as they do not know enough about the proper way to position themselves to hit a great backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the game and need to be addressed.

A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the mistake of holding the racket too tightly or loosely, and end up either hitting the ball too far or making an incorrect contact or even having the racket fall off when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you get closer to the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should be curved towards your top. This is known as cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low arc would have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the kind of shots you must be learning. If you are practicing the bank shot technique your forehand’s swing path will naturally curve toward the top as you get closer to the ball.

Keep your shoulders in line with the ball whenever you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with the ball which allows your arms to move freely. While you swing, your shoulders should not move away from the racquet’s socket. This can make it extremely difficult to catch the ball when this occurs.

When approaching the ball, make sure that your arm is pointed towards your side, and not your backside. Rotating your arms towards your side can reduce your power and your ability to generate power. To allow your arm to rotate correctly it is essential to be able to grip the club. A weak grip could lead to injury. It can cause you not to hit the ball or cause you overextend your arms. This could cause injuries.

Another important aspect in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. The majority of tennis players are right handed and have their right arm stretched across their bodies. The left arm of newbies is usually slung over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club in the neutral grip or similar to a baseball posture. By holding the club in a neutral position will ensure that you don’t have an arm that is not dominant when you swing.

Forehand tennis players who have an open stance tend to have issues with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have problems with their grip. This issue can be fixed by holding the racket in a neutral grip. Tennis players with open stance forehand must try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by putting the racket behind your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players with a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch in case you are left handed and the racket should be pointing towards your waist if left-handed. This will prevent the head-over-head swing or the under-shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight while you swing. Also, make sure you don’t give any side of your body too much space.
