A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of holding their racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball making poor contact, or letting their racket slide when they hit the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.

The other important factor to remember is that your forehand swing should start out straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body as you reach the top of your follow-through. Another important aspect in the correct grip is the angle of your stance. Most tennis players are right handed and carry their right arm across their bodies. The left arm of newbies is usually slung over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club in an open grip or like a baseball position. Forehand tennis players with open stances are more likely to have issues with their forearms. Forehands with an open stance tend to have problems with their grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket with an even grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket in front of their head and above their shoulders. The racket should be facing your crotch in case you are an right-handed player and should be facing your waist if you are left-handed. When you swing keep your wrists straight and down your hips, making sure you do not give either side of your body any room to swing.
