Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due to lack of understanding about how to properly position themselves to hit a strong backhand down the court. These two areas are essential to the sport and must be addressed.

The grip is the most critical element of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up hitting the ball too far or making a poor contact or having the racket break off when they swing at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best chance to hit the ball accurately every time.

The other important factor to be aware of is that your forehand swing should be straight from the beginning and then curve towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. This is called a high arc or cut shot. A low arc or hook starts with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will determine what kind of shots you need to be practicing. For example, if you are practicing a technique referred to as the bank shot your forehand swing path will naturally shift towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

When you swing, your shoulders must not move away from the racquet’s socket. If this happens, it will be very difficult to capture the ball.

When you are approaching the ball, make sure that your arm is directed from your side and not towards your backside. Moving your arm towards your side can reduce your power and your ability generate power. You must have a strong grip to control your arm’s rotation. A weak grip can lead to injuries. It could cause you to miss the ball or cause you overextend your arms. This can lead to injuries.

Another key factor in the proper grip is the angle of your stance. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and wear their right hand slung across the body. For those who are just beginning the left arm is usually carried across their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club in the neutral grip or similar to a baseball position. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehand players with an open stance are more likely to have issues with their grip. One way to address this issue is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Closed grips are best for tennis players who have an open forehand. This can be done by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket over their head and above their shoulders. The racket should be facing your crotch if you are left handed and should be facing your waist if you’re left-handed. This will prevent the swing that is over the head or the swing under the shoulder from happening. When you swing, keep your wrists straight and lower your hips so that you don’t give either side of your body a chance to swing.
