Tennis is a hugely popular sport. Everyone can play tennis from beginners to pros. There are two major types of tennis players. They are classified based on their ability to hit the ball more than a backhand or forehand. Most often, tennis players struggle with their forehands as they don’t know how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands, and in what order to hit strong forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with backhands due to the fact that they don’t know enough about the proper way to position themselves to hit a nice backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the game and must be addressed.
A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket to tightly or too loosely and end up not hitting the ball or making an incorrect contact or having the racket break off when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. This is called a cut shot or high arc. A low arc or hook will begin with the more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine what type of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique known as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally shift towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball when you swing. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball even as your arms are free to move. Keep in mind that the shoulders must not be removed from the socket or racquet when you swing. It could make it extremely difficult to take the ball back when this happens.
When you get close to the ball, make sure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. Rotating your arm to your side can actually decrease your power and ability to generate power. In order to get your arm to rotate properly you need to have a strong grip on the club. A weak grip could lead to injuries. It could cause you to not to hit the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This can result in injuries.
The angle of your stance is another important factor in ensuring a good grip. Most tennis beginners are right-handed and carry their right arm across their body. The left arm of beginners is usually slung over their body. Most coaches recommend that you hold the club with an open grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip will stop you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Forehand tennis players who have an open stance tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehand players with an open stance are more likely to have problems with their grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to hold the racket with a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your skull, with your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players who have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulder. The racket should be facing your crotch in case you are a right handed player and should be facing your waist if left handed. This will prevent the over-the-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from occurring. When you swing keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips so that you don’t allow either side of your body any space to swing.
