Tennis players can be grouped into two broad categories based on their ability to hit the ball more and higher than a forehand or backhand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they aren’t aware of how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands, and in which order to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also struggle with their backhands due lack of understanding about how to position themselves to hit a strong backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the sport and must be addressed.

The grip is the most critical aspect of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too tight or loosely and end up missing the ball, making poor contact or letting their racket slide when they hit the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the correct position.

The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should start out straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. This is referred to as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you must be learning. If you are working on the bank shot technique your forehand’s swing course will naturally curve towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

A weak grip could lead to injuries. It can cause you lose the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injuries.

Another key factor in the proper grip is the angle you stand at. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and have their left hand slung across the body. For those who are just beginning their left arm is usually carried over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club with a neutral grip or similar to a baseball position. The club should be held in a neutral posture will ensure that you don’t have an arm that is not dominant during your swing.

Tennis players who have open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehand players with an open stance are more likely to have issues with their grip. This problem can be solved by holding the racket in an upright grip. Closed grips are ideal for tennis players who have an open forehand. This can be done by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket in front of their head and over their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if you are an right-handed player and should be facing your waist if you’re a left handed player. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. When you swing keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips, making sure you do not give either side of your body any room to swing.
