A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up not hitting the ball or making an incorrect contact or having the racket fall off while they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will provide you with the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you approach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should be curved towards your top. This is referred to as cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low angle will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the kind of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot your forehand’s swing path will naturally shift towards the top as you move closer to the ball.

One way to address this issue is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand must try to use a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket in front of your skull, keeping your knees bent and your elbows locked.
Tennis players with a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket over their head and then over their shoulder. If you’re a left handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, make sure you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
