Tennis is among the most loved sports played in the world. It is a sport anyone can play, from beginners to pros. There are two main types of tennis players. They can be classified according to their ability to hit the ball farther than a backhand or forehand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they aren’t aware of how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands or in which order to hit powerful forehands. Likewise, tennis players also struggle with backhands because they do not know enough about the proper way to properly position themselves for a nice backhand down the court. Therefore, these two important areas of the game need to be addressed by those who want to be a pro at the game.

A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up hitting the ball too far or making an incorrect contact or having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you get closer to the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. This is called a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc starts with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots that you must be learning. If you are working on the bank shot technique, your forehand swing path will naturally curve toward the top as you get closer to the ball.

Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball even as your arms are free to move. While you move your arms, your shoulders should not leave the socket of your racquet. If this happens, it will be extremely difficult to catch the ball.

As you approach the ball, make sure to rotate your arm from your side, not your backside. By putting your arm on your side actually weakens your ability to generate power and generate a good backswing. You must have a strong grip to control your arm’s movement. A weak grip can be dangerous since it can cause you to lose the ball or could cause you to overextend your arm. This could cause injuries.

The angle of your stance is an important factor in ensuring a good grip. Tennis beginners are typically right-handed and have their right hand slung across the body. For beginners their left arm is typically carried across their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club with an open grip or like a baseball position. A neutral grip will stop you from hitting with an arm that is not dominant.

Tennis players who have open stance forehands tend to have issues with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand, they tend to over-turn their wrists and not have a good grip. One way to address this problem is to hold the racket using an even grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket behind your skull, keeping your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.

Tennis players with a dominant hand should move the racket over their heads and over their shoulders. The racket should point towards your crotch if you are left handed and should be facing your waist if left-handed. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from occurring. When you swing keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips so that you don’t allow either side of your body any room to swing.
