Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due to insufficient knowledge about how to properly position themselves to hit a strong backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the game and must be addressed.

A successful tennis swing depends on your grip. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too tight or loose and end up not hitting the ball or making a poor contact or even having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best opportunity to hit the ball in the right way every time.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. Forehand tennis players who have an open stance tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehands with an open stance tend to have issues with their grip. This problem can be solved by using an upright grip. Closed grips are best for players with an open forehand. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your skull, keeping your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.

Tennis players with a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulder. The racket should face your crotch in case you are a right handed player, and it should face your waist if left-handed.
