The grip is the most important aspect of an effective tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of holding their racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball making poor contact, or letting their racket slide when they swing at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket correctly in the right position.

The other thing you need to be aware of is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight from the beginning and then curve toward the top of your body as you reach the top of your follow-through. A great solution to this issue is to hold the racket using an even grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket behind your skull, with your knees bent, and your elbows locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket in front of their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the head-over-head swing or the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. When you swing, keep your wrists straight and down your hips so that you do not give either side of your body any space to swing.
