Tennis is a hugely popular sport. Tennis is a sport that anyone can play from beginners to professionals. Tennis players can be divided into two broad categories based on their ability level to hit the ball farther and higher than a forehand or backhand. Most often, tennis players have difficulty with hitting forehands because they don’t know how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands and in which order to hit powerful forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with backhands due to the fact that they don’t know enough about how to position themselves to hit a nice backhand down the court. So, these two crucial aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who wish to excel at the sport.
The grip is the most important element of the successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the proper position.
The other thing you need to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. This is referred to as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will influence the type of shots that you need to master. For example, if you are practicing a technique known as the bank shot your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball whenever you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with the ball which allows your arms to swing freely. Be aware that your shoulders must not be removed from the socket or racquet when you swing. It can make it very difficult to catch the ball when this happens.
When you approach the ball, make sure that your arm is pointed towards your side, and not to your backside. Rotating your arms to your side can actually reduce your power and your ability to generate power. To get your arm to rotate properly it is essential to hold a firm grip on the club. A weak grip can cause injury. It could cause you to lose the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This can lead to injury.
The angle of your stance is also an important aspect to ensure a good grip. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and have their right hand slung across the body. For those who are just beginning, their left arm is usually slung over their body. Most coaches suggest using an even grip, or a style similar to a baseball posture. By holding the club in a neutral position will aid in preventing a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Tennis players who have open stance forehand tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehands with an open stance tend to have issues with their grip. This issue can be resolved by using neutral grip. Closed grips are best for tennis players with an open forehand. This can be achieved by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant handed should swing the racket in front of their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a right-handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight when you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
