The grip is the most important element of a successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and end up missing the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the proper position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. This is known as a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc starts with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will influence the kind of shots you must be learning. For example, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

This issue can be fixed by holding the racket in neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand must try to have a closed grip. This can be done by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket in front of their head and above their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if you are left handed and should be facing your waist if you are a left handed player.
