A successful tennis swing depends on your grip. Many new players make the mistake of gripping the racket too tight or loose and end up missing the ball or making an incorrect contact or even having the racket break off when they swing at the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you get closer to the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. Another crucial aspect of the proper grip is the angle you stand at. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and have their left hand draped across their body. The left arm of beginners is often carried over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club in an open grip or like a baseball position. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Forehand tennis players with open stances tend to have issues with their forearms. Forehands with an open stance tend to have issues with their grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in a neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket behind your skull, your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players that have a dominant hand should move the racket over their head and over their shoulder. The racket should face your crotch in case you are left handed, and it should face your waist if you’re left handed. This will prevent the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring.
