These two areas are crucial to the game and must be addressed.
The grip is the most important aspect of an effective tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to keep the racket correctly in the right position.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow through. Tennis players who have open stance forehands should try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players that have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their heads and over their shoulder. If you’re a left handed player, the racket should face your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will prevent the over the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring.
