The grip is the most critical element of a successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding their racket too loose or tight and then miss the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the proper position.
The other important factor to be aware of is that your forehand swing should be straight from the beginning and then curve toward the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. Tennis players with open stance forehand tend to have issues with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. This problem can be solved by using neutral grip. Closed grips are ideal for tennis players who have an open forehand. This can be achieved by placing the racket over your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player the racket should point towards your crotch.
