A successful tennis swing is contingent on the grip you use. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best chance to hit the ball accurately every time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand’s path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should be curved towards your top. This is referred to as cut shots or high arc. A low arc or hook will begin with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you need to master. If you are working on the bank shot technique the forehand swing path will naturally curve toward the top as you get closer to the ball.

Be sure to keep your shoulders squared with the ball. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with your ball, allowing your arms to swing with ease. Remember that your shoulders should never be removed from the socket or tennis racquet during your swing. It can make it very difficult to take the ball back when this happens.

When you are approaching the ball, make sure that your arm is directed from your side and not towards your backside. By putting your arm on your side can weaken your ability to generate power and produce a strong backswing. To get your arm to move properly it is essential to have a strong grip on the club. A weak grip can be extremely dangerous as it can cause you miss the ball or it could cause you to overextend your arm. This could lead to injury.

Another key factor in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. Most tennis beginners are right handed and have their right arm stretched across their bodies. The left arm of beginner players is usually slung over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club with the neutral grip or similar to a baseball position. The club should be held in a neutral position will ensure that you don’t have an arm that is not dominant during your swing.

Open stance forehand tennis players tend to have issues with their forearms. If a player has an open stance forehand they tend to over-turn their wrists, and they do not have a good grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket with an upright grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should hold the racket in front of their head and above their shoulders. The racket should be facing your crotch in case you are a right handed player, and it should face your waist if left handed. This will help prevent either the over-the-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from happening. Keep your wrists straight while you swing.
