A successful tennis swing is contingent on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too tightly or too loosely and end up hitting the ball too far, making improper contact, or even having the racket break off when they swing at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the correct position.
The other thing you need to be aware of is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. The left arm of newbies is usually slung over their body. Most coaches recommend that you hold the club in an open grip or similar to a baseball position. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehand are more likely to have issues with their forearms. Forehands with an open stance tend to have issues with their grip. A great solution to this problem is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Closed grips are best for players with an open forehand. This can be done by putting the racket behind your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulder. If you’re a right-handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from happening.
