Another key factor in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. Tennis beginners are typically right-handed and wear their right hand slung across the body. The left arm of beginner players is usually slung over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club in the neutral grip or like a baseball position. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.

Tennis players with open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand they tend to over-turn their wrists and not have a good grip. A great way to solve this issue is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehands should try to use a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket behind your skull, with your knees bent, and your elbows locked.

Tennis players with a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if a right handed player and the racket should be pointing towards your waist if you’re left handed. This will prevent the over the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing.
