Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands because of insufficient knowledge about how to position themselves in order to hit a good backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the game and must be addressed.
The grip is the most critical aspect of a successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too tightly or loosely and end up not hitting the ball, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off while they are swinging at the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.
The other important factor to remember is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve towards the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow-through. This is known as a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low angle will have an natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine what kind of shots you need to be practicing. If you are practicing the bank shot technique, your forehand swing is likely to curve towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are in constant contact with your ball which allows your arms to move freely. Be aware that your shoulders must not be removed from the socket or tennis racquet during your swing. If this happens, it will be very difficult to capture the ball.
As you approach the ball, make sure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. The arm that is rotated to the side will weaken your ability to generate power and create a great backswing. To allow your arm to rotate correctly you need to hold a firm grip on the club. A weak grip could be dangerous since it can cause you lose the ball or can cause you to overextend your arm. This could result in injuries.
Another key factor in the proper grip is the angle you stand at. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and wear their right hand spread across their body. For those who are just beginning their left arm is usually slung across their body. Most coaches recommend holding the club with a neutral grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. A great way to solve this problem is to hold the racket with an even grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand must try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket above their head and above their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if you are a right handed player and should be facing your waist if you are left-handed. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
