Most times, tennis players struggle with their forehands as they do not know how to use the right muscles for their forehands and in what order to hit strong forehands. Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due insufficient knowledge about how to position themselves in order to hit a good backhand down the court. Therefore, these two important aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who want to be successful in the sport.
The grip is the most important aspect of a successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the error of gripping the racket too tight or loose, and end up either not hitting the ball or making a poor contact or even having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best chance to hit the ball accurately every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. When you reach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should be curved towards your top. This is known as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine what kind of shots you need to be practicing. For example, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing will naturally turn toward the top as you move closer to the ball.
Keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball while your arms are free to move. While you move your arms, your shoulders should not be able to leave the racquet’s socket. If this happens, it can be extremely difficult to capture the ball.
When you are approaching the ball, be sure to move your arm to your side, not your backside. Rotating your arm towards your side can reduce your power and ability generate power. You must have a strong grip to control the rotation of your arm. Having a weak grip can be extremely dangerous as it can cause you to be unable to catch the ball, or it can cause you to overextend your arm. This could result in injury.
The angle of your stance is also an important factor in ensuring a good grip. Most tennis players are right handed and have their right arm slung across their bodies. For those who are just beginning, their left arm is usually slung over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club with an open grip or like a baseball position. Holding the club in a neutral posture will aid in preventing an arm that is not dominant when you swing.
Forehand tennis players with open stances tend to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have problems with their grip. This issue can be resolved by using a neutral grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket behind your skull, keeping your knees bent, and your elbows locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should hold the racket above their head and over their shoulders. If you’re a left handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. When you swing, keep your wrists straight and lower your hips, making sure you don’t allow either side of your body a chance to swing.
