The grip is the most important aspect of a successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of gripping the racket to tightly or loosely and end up not hitting the ball or making an incorrect contact or having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the correct position.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should begin straight and then curve toward the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow through. This is known as a high arc or cut shot. A low arc or hook will begin with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the kind of shots you need to master.
