Most often, tennis players have difficulty with hitting forehands because they aren’t aware of how to engage the correct muscles for their forehands or in what order to hit strong forehands. Likewise, tennis players also struggle with backhands because they do not know enough about how to properly position themselves for a perfect backhand on the court. These two areas are crucial to the sport and must be addressed.
A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.
The other important factor to be aware of is that your forehand’s swing path should begin straight and then curve toward the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow-through. This is called cut shots or high arc. A low arc or hook starts with the more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you need to master. If you are working on the bank shot technique the forehand swing is likely to curve towards the top as you get closer to the ball.
Be sure to keep your shoulders squared with the ball. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with the ball, allowing your arms to swing freely. Be aware that your shoulders must not leave the socket or your tennis racquet during your swing. If this happens, it could be extremely difficult to catch the ball.
When you are approaching the ball, ensure that your arm is pointed towards your side, and not towards your backside. Rotating your arm to the side will weaken your ability to generate energy and produce a strong backswing. You need a solid grip to control your arm’s rotation. A weak grip could cause injuries. It could cause you to lose the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injuries.
Another crucial aspect of the correct grip is the angle of your stance. The majority of tennis players are right-handed and wear their right hand spread across their body. For those who are just beginning, their left arm is typically carried over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club in a neutral grip or like a baseball position. A neutral grip will stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. If a player has an open-stance forehand, they are more likely to turn their wrists and do not have a good grip. This issue can be fixed by holding the racket in an upright grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehands should try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket in front of your skull, with your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players that have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket over their heads and then over their shoulder. The racket should point towards your crotch if left handed and should be facing your waist if left-handed. This will prevent the swing that is over the head or the under-shoulder swing from happening. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure you don’t give any part of your body too much room.
