A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of holding the racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball and making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will provide you with the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you approach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is referred to as cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low arc starts with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots you must be learning. For example, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you move closer to the ball.

Tennis players who have open stance forehands tend to have problems with their forearms. If a player has an open-stance forehand, they are more likely to turn their wrists, and they do not have a good grip. A great way to solve this problem is to hold the racket with a neutral grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. This can be done by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
