Tennis players also struggle with their backhands due to lack of knowledge on how to position themselves to hit a solid backhand down the court. So, these two crucial aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who wish to excel at the sport.
The grip is the most critical element of an effective tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too tight or loosely and end up missing the ball making poor contact, or letting their racket slide when they swing at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should be straight from the beginning and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. This is known as cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the kind of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing will naturally shift towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

Another key factor in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. Tennis beginners are typically right-handed and have their left hand slung across the body. For those who are just beginning their left arm is usually slung across their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club in an open grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Tennis players who have open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand they tend to twist their wrists and not have a good grip. A great way to solve this issue is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehands should try to have a closed grip. This can be accomplished by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should hold the racket in front of their head and over their shoulders. The racket should point towards your crotch in case you are an right-handed player and the racket should be pointing towards your waist if left handed. This will stop the head-over-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from happening. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t give any side of your body too much space.
