The grip is the most important element of the successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of holding the racket too tightly or too loosely and end up missing the ball or making an incorrect contact or having the racket fall off when they swing at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.
The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing should begin straight and then curve toward the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. This is known as a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will have an inherent wrist hinge as well as wrist extension. These factors will influence the type of shots you need to master. Holding the club in a neutral posture will help prevent you from having a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Forehand tennis players with open stances are more likely to have issues with their forearms. Forehand players with an open stance are more likely to have problems with their grip.
