The grip is the most important aspect of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket too tight or loose and end up hitting the ball too far or making an incorrect contact or having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best opportunity to strike the ball correctly every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you approach the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is called cut or high arc shot. A low arc or hook starts with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the type of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand swing path will naturally move towards the top as you move closer to the ball.

This issue can be resolved by holding the racket in an upright grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehands should try to use a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, keeping your knees bent, and your elbows locked.
Tennis players with a dominant hand should move the racket over their heads and over their shoulder. The racket should be facing your crotch if an right-handed player, and it should face your waist if you are a left handed player. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure that you don’t allow any side of your body too much room.
