Tennis is a hugely popular sport. Everyone can play tennis, from beginners to professionals. Tennis players can be grouped into two broad categories based on their skill level to hit the ball further and higher than a backhand or forehand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they do not know how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands and in the right order to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due lack of understanding about how to position themselves to hit a solid backhand down the court. So, these two crucial areas of the game need to be addressed by those who wish to excel at the sport.
The grip is the most crucial aspect of a successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of holding the racket too tight or loose, and end up either hitting the ball too far, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you get closer to the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s swing path should curve towards your top. This is called a high arc or cut shot. A low arc or hook starts with the more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots that you should be learning. If you’re practicing the bank shot technique, your forehand swing path will naturally curve toward the top as it gets closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This helps to keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball while your arms swing freely. Keep in mind that the shoulders must not move away from the socket or the racquet when you swing. It could make it extremely difficult to catch the ball when this occurs.
When you get close to the ball, make sure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. Rotating your arms to the side could decrease your power and ability to generate power. You need to have a strong grip to control your arm’s rotation. A weak grip can cause injury. It can cause you not to hit the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could cause injuries.
The angle of your stance is also an important factor in ensuring an effective grip. Most tennis players are right-handed and have their right arm stretched across their body. For beginners, their left arm is usually carried over their body. The majority of coaches advise using a neutral grip, or in a similar way to a baseball grip. A neutral grip can stop you from swinging with an arm that isn’t dominant.
Tennis players with open stance forehand are more likely to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand, they tend to twist their wrists and do not have a proper grip. This problem can be solved by holding the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players with open stance forehand should attempt to use a closed grip. This can be achieved by putting the racket behind your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket above their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right-handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the over-the-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, make sure you don’t give any side of your body too much room.
