The other important factor to remember is that your forehand swing path should start out straight and then curve toward the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. A weak grip can be very dangerous because it could cause you to miss the ball or it could cause you to overextend your arm. This can result in injury.
Another important aspect in the correct grip is the angle you stand at. Most tennis players are right handed and have their right arm stretched across their body. For those who are just beginning their left arm is typically carried over their body. Most coaches recommend using a neutral grip, or a style similar to a baseball position. The club should be held in a neutral position can help prevent you from having an arm that is not dominant during your swing.
Forehand tennis players who have an open stance tend to have issues with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand, they tend to over-turn their wrists and not have a good grip. A great solution to this issue is to hold the racket using an even grip. Closed grips are the best choice for tennis players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, with your knees bent, and keeping your elbows locked.
Tennis players that have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their heads and over their shoulders. If you’re a left handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, it should be facing towards your waist. This will prevent the swing that is over the head or the swing under the shoulder from occurring. When you swing keep your wrists straight and lower your hips, making sure you don’t allow either side of your body any space to swing.
