Tennis players can be grouped into two broad categories based on their skill to hit the ball farther and higher than a backhand or forehand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they do not know how to properly use the right muscles for their forehands, and in which order to hit powerful forehands. Also, tennis players struggle with backhands due to the fact that they aren’t aware about the proper way to set themselves up to hit a nice backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the game and must be addressed.

The grip is the most important element of the successful tennis swing. Many new players make the mistake of gripping the racket to tightly or too loosely, and end up either missing the ball or making a poor contact or having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to hold the racket correctly in the right position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight. As you get closer to the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should be curved towards your top. This is called cut shot or high arc. A low arc or hook will begin with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the type of shots you need to master. If you are practicing the bank shot technique, your forehand swing path will naturally curve toward the top as you get closer to the ball.

Remember to always swing with your shoulders aligned with the ball. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball even as your arms move freely. Be aware that your shoulders should never move away from the socket or the tennis racquet during your swing. It can make it very difficult to capture the ball if this occurs.

When you get close to the ball, be sure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. Rotating your arms to the side could reduce your power and ability generate power. You need to have a strong grip to control your arm’s rotation. A weak grip can cause injury. It could cause you to miss the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could cause injuries.

The angle of your stance is an important factor in ensuring an effective grip. Tennis beginners are typically right-handed and have their left hand draped across their body. The left arm of beginners is usually slung over their body. Most coaches recommend holding the club with a neutral grip or a style similar to a baseball grip. A neutral grip can stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.

Forehand tennis players with open stances are more likely to have issues with their forearms. When players with an open stance forehand they tend to twist their wrists and do not have a proper grip. A great solution to this issue is to hold the racket with an even grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to hold the racket with a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players with a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and then over their shoulder. If you’re a right handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will prevent the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight while you swing. Also, make sure you don’t allow any side of your body too much room.
