Most times, tennis players struggle with their forehands as they do not know how to engage the correct muscles for their forehands and in which order to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due lack of knowledge on how to properly position themselves to hit a strong backhand down the court. This is why these two essential areas of the game must to be addressed by those who want to excel at the sport.
A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up not hitting the ball or making an incorrect contact or even having the racket fall off when they swing at the ball. The best method to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should be curved towards your top. This is referred to as a cut shot or high arc. A hook with a low arc will begin with the more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will influence the type of shots you must be learning. For example, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot your forehand’s swing path will naturally turn toward the top as you get closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders squared with the ball. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with the ball which allows your arms to swing with ease. Remember that your shoulders must never leave the socket or your tennis racquet during your swing. If this happens, it could be extremely difficult to take the ball back.

The arm that is rotated on your side actually weakens your ability to generate energy and generate a good backswing. You must have a strong grip to control the rotation of your arm. A weak grip could result in injury. It could cause you to miss the ball or cause you to overextend your arms. This can result in injuries.
Another crucial aspect of the correct grip is the angle of your stance. Most tennis beginners are right-handed and carry their right arm across their bodies. For those who are just beginning the left arm is usually carried across their body. Most coaches recommend using a neutral grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball position. Holding the club in a neutral posture will help prevent you from having a non-dominant arm when you swing.
Forehand tennis players with open stances tend to have issues with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. A great way to solve this issue is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Closed grips are best for tennis players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket behind your skull, with your knees bent and your elbows locked.
Tennis players who are non-dominant handed should swing the racket in front of their head and above their shoulders. If you’re a right handed player the racket should point towards your crotch. If you’re a left-handed player, the racket should be pointing towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from happening. When you swing, keep your wrists straight, and keep them down your hips, making sure you do not give either side of your body any space to swing.
