A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket too tightly or loosely and end up missing the ball, making improper contact, or having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. The best way to strike the ball correctly is to keep the racket correctly in the right position.

The other thing you need to be aware of is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight from the beginning and then curve towards the top of your body as you reach the top of your follow-through. A neutral grip will stop you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehands tend to have problems with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand, they tend to twist their wrists and not have a proper grip. This problem can be solved by holding the racket with an upright grip. Closed grips are ideal for players with an open forehand. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, keeping your knees bent, and your elbows locked.

Tennis players that have a dominant hand should move the racket over their heads and then over their shoulder. The racket should be facing your crotch if you are an right-handed player and should be facing your waist if you are left handed. This will stop the head-over-head swing or the swing under the shoulder from occurring.
