They are classified based on their ability to hit the ball farther than a backhand or forehand. Tennis players typically struggle to hit forehands due to the lack of knowledge on how to properly engage their muscles and what is the best way to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also struggle with their backhands due lack of knowledge on how to position themselves to hit a solid backhand down the court. These two areas are crucial to the game and must be addressed.

A successful tennis swing is dependent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket to tight or loose and end up hitting the ball too far, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off while they are swinging at the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to hold the racket in the proper position.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you get closer to the top of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should be curved towards your top. This is called cut or high arc shot. A hook with a low arc would start out with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine what type of shots you should be practicing. For example, if you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand’s swing path will naturally move towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

Always keep your shoulders squared with the ball. This will keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball as your arms move freely. While you swing, your shoulders should not move away from the racquet’s socket. If this happens, it could be extremely difficult to catch the ball.

When you get close to the ball, make sure to move your arm to your side, not from your backside. By holding the club in a neutral position can ensure that you don’t have an arm that is not dominant during your swing.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehand are more likely to have issues with their forearms. If a player has an open stance forehand, they tend to twist their wrists and do not have a good grip. This issue can be fixed by holding the racket with neutral grip. Tennis players with an open stance forehand should attempt to hold the racket with a closed grip. This can be done by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who are non-dominant hand should move the racket above their head and over their shoulders. The racket should face your crotch if you are left handed and the racket should be pointing towards your waist if you are left handed. This will prevent the over-the head swing as well as the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. Keep your wrists straight as you swing. Also, ensure you don’t give any part of your body too much space.
