Likewise, tennis players also struggle with their backhands as they do not know enough about how to properly position themselves for a great backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the game and must be addressed.

The grip is the most important aspect of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket to tightly or loosely, and end up either missing the ball, making improper contact, or even having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. The right way to hold the racket in the right way will give you the best opportunity to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight from the beginning and then curve toward the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow through. This can be accomplished by putting the racket behind your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players who have a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulder. The racket should face your crotch if an right-handed player and should be facing your waist if you are a left handed player.
