Tennis players can be divided into two broad categories based on their skill to hit the ball more and higher than a forehand or a backhand. Most times, tennis players struggle with hitting forehands because they aren’t aware of how to properly engage the correct muscles for their forehands, and in which order to hit powerful forehands. Tennis players also have trouble with their backhands due to lack of knowledge on how to position themselves to hit a solid backhand down the court. These two areas are vital to the sport and must be addressed.

A successful tennis swing is dependent on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. The best way to hit the ball correctly is to keep the racket in the proper position.

The other important factor to keep in mind is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve toward the top of your body as you approach the top of your follow through. This is known as cut shots or high arc. A hook with a low arc would have a natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors can affect the kind of shots you must be learning. If you are practicing the bank shot technique your forehand’s swing course will naturally curve towards the top as you get closer to the ball.

Be sure to keep your shoulders squared with the ball. This will ensure that your shoulders remain in constant contact with your ball which allows your arms to swing with ease. While you swing, your shoulders must not leave the racquet’s socket. If this happens, it can be very difficult to take the ball back.

When approaching the ball, ensure that your arm is directed from your side and not your backside. Rotating your arm on your side can weaken your ability to generate power and create a great backswing. You need to have a strong grip to control your arm’s movement. A weak grip could cause injuries. It can cause you lose the ball, or cause you to overextend your arms. This could result in injuries.

Another important aspect in the correct grip is the angle of your stance. Tennis beginners tend to be right-handed and have their left hand slung across the body. The left arm of beginners is often carried over their body. The majority of coaches suggest that you hold the club in the neutral grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip will stop you from hitting with an arm that isn’t dominant.

Tennis players that have an open stance forehand are more likely to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have issues with their grip. This issue can be resolved by holding the racket with an upright grip. Tennis players with open stance forehands should try to use a closed grip. This can be done by placing the racket over your head while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.

Tennis players with a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulder. If you’re a right-handed player the racket should be facing your crotch. If you’re a lefthanded player, it should face towards your waist. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring. When you swing, keep your wrists straight and lower your hips so that you don’t allow either side of your body any space to swing.
