Likewise, tennis players also struggle with backhands because they don’t know enough about the proper way to set themselves up to hit a great backhand down the court. The grip is the most crucial element of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket to tight or loose and end up not hitting the ball or making a poor contact or even having the racket break off when they are swinging at the ball. Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s path should be straight. As you get closer to the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. A great way to solve this problem is to hold the racket using a neutral grip. Closed grips are ideal for tennis players with an open forehand. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your skull, your knees bent and your elbows locked.

Tennis players that have a dominant hand should move the racket over their heads and over their shoulder. The racket should point towards your crotch if you are left handed and should be facing your waist if you’re a left handed player.
