In the same way, tennis players struggle with their backhands as they do not know enough about the proper way to position themselves to hit a great backhand down the court. So, these two crucial aspects of the game have to be addressed by those who wish to excel at the game.
A successful tennis swing depends on the grip you use. Many beginners make the error of holding the racket too loose or tight and end up missing the ball, making poor contact or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. Holding the racket the right way will give you the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.
Another important thing to remember is that your forehand swing path should be straight. As you approach the top end of your follow-through, your forehand swing path should curve towards your top. This is called cut shot or high arc. A low arc or hook will begin with a more natural wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the type of shots that you should be learning. If you’re practicing the bank shot technique your forehand’s swing path will naturally curve toward the top as you get closer to the ball.
Always keep your shoulders aligned with the ball. This helps keep your shoulders in constant contact with the ball even as your arms swing freely. While you move your arms, your shoulders should not leave the socket of your racquet. It can make it very difficult to catch the ball if this occurs.
As you approach the ball, make sure to move your arm to your side, not your backside. The arm that is rotated on your side can weaken the ability of your arm to generate power and generate a good backswing. To get your arm to rotate correctly, you must hold a firm grip on the club. A weak grip could be dangerous since it can cause you miss the ball or it could cause you to overextend your arm. This can lead to injuries.
Another crucial aspect of the proper grip is the angle of your stance. Most tennis beginners are right-handed and have their right arm slung across their body. For beginners their left arm is usually carried over their body. Most coaches advise that you hold the club with a neutral grip or similar to a baseball posture. A neutral grip will prevent you from swinging with an arm that is not dominant.
Tennis players who have open stance forehands tend to have problems with their forearms. Open stance forehand players tend to have problems with their grip. This issue can be fixed by holding the racket with a neutral grip. Tennis players who have open stance forehand must try to have a closed grip. This can be achieved by placing the racket on your head, while your knees are bent and your elbows are locked.
Tennis players with a non-dominant hand should swing the racket over their head and over their shoulder. The racket should be facing your crotch if you are an right-handed player and should be facing your waist if you’re a left handed player. This will stop the over-the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from occurring.
