Tennis players can be grouped into two broad categories based on their ability to hit the ball more and higher than a forehand or a backhand. Tennis players often struggle to hit forehands due to inexperience with how to properly engage their muscles and what is the best way to hit powerful forehands. The grip is the most critical element of the successful tennis swing. Many beginners make the mistake of gripping the racket too tight or loose, and end up either not hitting the ball, making improper contact, or even having the racket fall off when they are swinging at the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best chance to strike the ball correctly every time.

Another important thing to remember is that your forehand’s swing path should be straight. When you reach the top of your follow-through, your forehand’s path should curve towards your top. This is known as a high arc or cut shot. A hook with a low arc will begin with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These aspects will affect the kind of shots you must be learning. Rotating your arm on your side actually weakens the ability of your arm to generate power and create a great backswing. To allow your arm to rotate correctly you need to be able to grip the club. A weak grip could be dangerous since it can cause you to lose the ball or could cause you to extend your arm. This can lead to injury.

Another crucial aspect of the correct grip is the angle you stand at. Most tennis players are right-handed and carry their right arm across their body. The left arm of beginners is usually slung over their body. Most coaches recommend using an even grip, or in a manner similar to a baseball position. The club should be held in a neutral position will help prevent you from having an arm that is not dominant when you swing.

Tennis players who have open stance forehand tend to have problems with their forearms. Forehand players with an open stance are more likely to have problems with their grip.
