A successful tennis swing is contingent on your grip. Many beginners make the mistake of holding their racket in a way that is too loose or tight and then miss the ball making poor contact, or having their racket slip when they hit the ball. By holding the racket in the correct way will give you the best chance to hit the ball in the right way every time.

Another important thing to be aware of is that your forehand swing path should begin straight and then curve upwards towards the top of your body when you get to the top of your follow-through. This is known as cut or high arc shot. A low arc or hook starts with an easier wrist hinge and wrist extension. These factors will determine the type of shots you should be practicing. For instance, if, for example, you are practicing a technique that is known as the bank shot, your forehand’s swing path will naturally move towards the top as you move closer to the ball.

Always keep your shoulders in line with the ball as you swing. This will ensure that your shoulders are always in contact with your ball which allows your arms to swing with ease. Be aware that your shoulders must not leave the socket or your racquet when you swing. If this happens, it could be very difficult to take the ball back.

When you get close to the ball, make sure to rotate your arm from your side, not your backside. The arm that is rotated on your side actually weakens your ability to generate energy and create a great backswing. You need to have a strong grip to control your arm’s movement. A weak grip can be very dangerous because it can cause you be unable to catch the ball, or it can cause you to overextend your arm. This could cause injuries.

Another key factor in the correct grip is the angle of your stance. Most tennis beginners are right handed and have their right arm slung across their body. For beginners their left arm is usually slung across their body. Most coaches recommend holding the club with a neutral grip or a style similar to a baseball grip. A neutral grip can stop you from hitting with an arm that is not dominant.

Forehand tennis players who have an open stance are more likely to have problems with their forearms. If players have an open stance forehand they tend to over-turn their wrists, and they do not have a good grip. A great solution to this problem is to hold the racket using an even grip. Tennis players with open stance forehand must try to hold the racket with a closed grip. You can achieve this by placing the racket on your skull, with your knees bent and your elbows locked.

Tennis players that have a hand that is not dominant should swing the racket above their head and over their shoulders. The racket should point towards your crotch if a right handed player, and it should face your waist if left handed. This will prevent the over the head swing and the under-the-shoulder swing from happening.
